Dear Parents,
With the coronavirus (COVID-19) increasing its presence in the New Rochelle community, we would like everyone to know about the steps we are taking at the New Rochelle YMCA to address the situation. Please be assured that our top priority is to maintain a safe environment for our children, members, and staff. The New Rochelle YMCA is following the guidance of the Westchester County Health Department and will adjust protocols as necessary.
Our facility is open and all programs and events are operating on a normal schedule except for Sunday, March 8, 2020 when the building will close early at 2:30 PM for a deep cleaning.
We have increased our daily disinfecting of frequently-touched surfaces – including doorknobs, vending machines, ramp handrails, restroom faucets, tables, elevator buttons, weights and commonly handled areas. All children will be given hand wipes to clean their hands before coming into the facility and will be having their hands washed throughout their time here as we normally do.
And, we have instructed staff to leave the building if they begin to feel under the weather, to get medical help if they have flu-like symptoms, and to stay home until they have recovered. We are asking you, parents, to keep any children not feeling well home for their safety and the safety of others. We will call you to pick up your child should it seem they appear to have a cold or temperature.
Together we can keep the New Rochelle YMCA a healthy and safe environment. We are going to be moving forward with some new programs for our youth and teens. We will be sending out information on that soon.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 914-632-1818 x21 should you have any questions.
Warm regards,
Jennifer Ryan Safsel
Chief Executive Officer
